As the first quarter of 2021 wrapped up, the fitness and weight loss app market in Brazil showed varied performance across the top applications. Data provided by Sensor Tower allows us to delve into the trends and numbers that characterized this period.

Strava: Run, Bike, Hike saw a notable increase in downloads, starting the quarter with approximately 61K and peaking at nearly 94K by the end of March. Weekly active users initially dipped from over 1.1M to under 1M in late February but rebounded to around 1.1M by the quarter's end. Revenue also showed an upward trend, with a slight dip in mid-January but reaching its highest at nearly $40K in late February.

Freeletics: Workouts & Fitness experienced a sharp increase in downloads in the first week of January, hitting roughly 24K, then saw a decline to about 4K towards the end of the month. Weekly active users peaked at approximately 85K in early January and then gradually decreased to around 67K by the end of March. Revenue followed a similar pattern, with a high of about $13K in the first week of January, followed by a decrease, but then a slight recovery towards the end of the quarter.

MyFitnessPal: Calorie Counter downloads remained relatively stable, starting at around 13K and reaching a high of over 23K in late January. Weekly active users showed a significant increase in early January, going from around 364K to 438K, but ended the quarter at about 390K. Asana Rebel: Get in Shape saw a decline in downloads from roughly 20K at the start of the quarter to around 5K by the end. Revenue, after an initial high of about $12K in the first week of January, dipped to around $3K in early March but saw a rise to $8K towards the quarter's close.

BodyFast: Intermittent Fasting downloads peaked at over 32K in the first week of January and then gradually declined to about 5K by the end of March. Weekly active users reached a high of around 57K in the same period but saw a decrease to about 24K by the quarter's end. Revenue showed an initial increase to approximately $14K but fluctuated throughout the quarter, ending at around $4K.
